Help with Phold
Something not right with a roll, or just a question? Write to eammon@phold.photo. There's one person behind Phold, and he reads everything.
For an order, please include the roll number. It's on the envelope in the app's lab and on the card in your prints (for example "No. 3F9C2"). If you don't have it, the delivery address or the email from your receipt helps us find it.
Prints and delivery
When will my prints arrive?
Usually one to two weeks after you hand the roll in. The lab prints it, then it goes in the post: farther away (Canada, Australia, New Zealand) takes longer.
How do I see where my roll has got to?
Tap Your prints in the shop (or Develop, when prints are back) to go through to the lab, the shop's back room. Your envelopes stand forward in the rack, each with a stamp: Received, At the lab, Posted. When the lab gives tracking, Track opens it.
Which countries do you post to?
The UK, the US, the EU, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. You pay in your own currency. Instant Deluxe packs aren't sold in Australia and New Zealand.
My prints haven't come.
If it's been three weeks since you handed the roll in, write to us with the roll number. We'll find out what's happened and, if it's lost, print it again or refund you.
My prints arrived damaged.
Sorry. Send us a photo of them and the roll number, within 30 days of when they arrived, and we'll print them again or refund you. (Light leaks, soft focus and odd colours are the camera's doing, not damage. That's the fun of it.)
Can I change the delivery address?
Prints go to the address you chose in Apple Pay when you bought the film. Once the roll has gone to the lab, it can't be changed. If you've not handed it in yet, write to us.
The card and your digital copies
How do I open my digital copies?
In the lab, pick the envelope and tap Scan card, then point your phone at the card that came with your prints. Or tap Enter code and type the code printed on it (dashes, spaces and capitals don't matter). The envelope opens and your prints are there to look through and share.
The card is missing, or won't scan.
Type the code instead. If there's no card at all, don't worry: the roll opens in the app by itself a few days after it was posted. The envelope shows the date.
How does the 10% off work?
Opening a roll gives you 10% off your next roll of film, good for 30 days. It comes off at the till by itself. You can also give the card to a friend: its code typed at the till takes the 10% off for them, if nobody's opened that roll yet.
Cameras and film
Can I see my film photos before the prints arrive?
No, and that's the point. There's no screen on the back. You find out how they turned out when you open the envelope, just like a real camera.
What do the digital cameras do?
They need no film. Two are on the shelf at a time, changing every few days. Shoot, then copy the pictures to your phone on the late-90s laptop and see them straight away. They aren't printed by the lab.
Auto or Manual?
Auto sets the camera for you. Manual leaves the focus, aperture and speed to you, the way the camera was built. Either way, you won't see the result until the prints arrive.
Which iPhones does Phold work on?
Any iPhone with iOS 26 or later. It's made for the iPhone Duo, where folding the phone works the camera.
How do I see the tutorial again?
Open the About card and tap How Phold works.
Paying and refunds
What does a roll cost?
In the UK, £14.99 for 120, £19.99 for 35 mm and £16.99 for an instant pack (Instant Deluxe £37.99), including VAT. The price covers developing, printing and posting. Other countries pay in their own currency.
Can I get a refund?
An unused roll (bought but not loaded into a camera) can be refunded within 14 days. Write to us. Prints are made from your own pictures, so once a roll is handed in it can't be refunded for a change of mind. Damaged, misprinted or lost prints are always put right. See the terms of sale.
Do you store my card details?
No. You pay with Apple Pay, and the payment goes through Stripe. We never see your card number. More in the privacy policy.
The beta
